Your Problem Statement

The patient is a 13-year-old female with a history of asthma and environmental allergies. She reports to the clinic with complaints of itchy hands which had progressively gotten worse over the past 2 weeks. The patient has also had dry skin for 7 months which becomes worse in the winter. She admits to using scented lotion and wearing stacker rings which she was given by her friend. Upon physical examination, the dorsal aspects of her hands exhibited erythematous, dry, flaky plaques with poorly demarcated borders. In addition, the bilateral antecubital fossae showed evidence of lichenification. The auspitz sign was negative in all the affected areas. Other ROS remains unremarkable.

This patient is a 13-year-old female with a PMH of asthma and environmental allergies who reports 2 weeks of a progressively worsening itchy rash on the dorsal aspects of her hands. She also reports overall dry skin that started about 7 months ago and worsens in the winter, use of scented lotion, and new stacker rings. Denies exposure to environmental/plant-based irritants, new lotions, soaps, detergents, fever, cough, and other URI symptoms. Physical examination shows an erythematous, flaky, and dry with poorly demarcated borders to the dorsal aspects of the hands and thickened, leathery skin on the bilateral antecubital fossae. Auspitz sign is negative on all affected areas.
